The Trump Presidency: Should We Follow Donald Trump?

Christians are confused.  On one hand they hear prophecies of impending doom.  On the other hand they hear prophecies of an American renaissance through Donald Trump.  Which is it?  Can we know the truth?

One evening as I pondered these thoughts, The Lord took me to Joshua 5:13-14.

Prior to this chapter, Joshua has led the Israelites across the Jordan river into the promised land (chapters 3-4).  Then in chapter 5 as Joshua approaches Jericho he encounters a man (an angel) standing in front of him with a drawn sword.  Here is the passage:

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand.  Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies (Joshua 5:13)?"

The angel’s answer is what caught my attention.
“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.”Joshua 5:14
The angel made it clear— he followed God.  Perhaps Joshua thought that men should follow him.  And today based on a prophecy, perhaps some think we should follow Trump.  But the lesson we need to learn is that no matter who God chooses to use, we keep our eyes on Him!

The elect understand this and follow the LAMB wherever He goes (Revelation 14:4).  The elect can’t be fooled (Matthew 24:24).

We live in a time when the path of the Lord shifts and turns.  If we mentally lock in on one outcome we may miss what God is doing.

•  If disaster comes, there is a reason.
•  If God wants to use Trump to bring prosperity back to America, there is a reason.
•  Even if Donald Trump turns out to be the Antichrist (God forbid) there is a reason.

But how do you get PEACE in all of this?  You get God’s perspective.  With spiritual eyes you see that we have victory in Christ.
Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.1 Corinthians 15:57
With spiritual eyes you see that we are more than CONQUERS in Christ.
Yet in all these things we are more than CONQUERS through Him who loved us.Romans 8:37
With spiritual eyes we see that all things work together for good to them that love Him.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.Romans 8:28
You get peace when you remain in God’s word.  God’s word gives you a higher perspective.  God’s word leads you to a ROCK higher than yourself.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I.Psalm 61:2
Inner peace comes when you realize that God is in control (Hebrews 1:13).  Despite circumstances God gives you peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).

An Announcement: The Future of Bible Made Simple

I’m in the process of creating a new YouTube channel called Truth Based Thinking.  As a result, I haven’t been able to post to Bible Made Simple as often as I’d like.  I will continue to post to Bible Made Simple, although with less frequency.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I work to make this happen.  Thank you for your continued support.

God bless.

Gregg - I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your blog. I have looked at it several times and have been blessed and impressed by your obvious foundation in the Word. This one about Trump is certainly no exception. We as believers do need to keep our eyes on Him and His word, and not put our confidence in anyone or anything else! Thank you for sharing this timely word.

Yes, Gregg! We first met at College Park Baptist Church, and later both ended up at Paradise Hills Baptist (later Calvary Baptist). I don't remember when I saw you last. We've both lived a lifetime since! I retired from the VA in 2014. For over 9 years I have lived in Lakeside AZ (near Show Low). Since retiring I have been unofficially an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel of the White Mountains. I am a worship leader, lead Men's Ministries, and I teach regularly. I have been taking classes in Bible from an on-line Christian university to equip myself to better serve and teach. My wife is also retired. We have seven grandchildren, none of which live in AZ, so we travel several times a year to visit. I am doing very well health-wise and am able to keep pretty active. How are you? Are you in Phoenix?
Hi Randy,
I'm a flight attendant for American Airlines. I'm out on a 4 day trip at the moment. I am based in Phoenix but live near Prescott. I have two sons, one is a web page designer the other a fire fighter in the Air Force. My wife is a house wife. Thanks for finding my blog Bible Made Simple.

Hi Gregg, I would not be the first person to postulate that IF Donald Trump does turn out to be "the American Antichrist" it would be for a reason! Many well intentioned (and Spirit-Directed Christians) ARE ALREADY quick to jump on this designation! I say: "Let us all just wait and see. He definitely would not be the first one, nor would he be the last." All things are in God's control and power. Jesus Christ will destroy the Beast and the False Prophet along with the Dragon according to my understanding of the Book of Revelation. So... regardless on where anyone may stand in their opinions; Jesus Christ will make it all right in "The End". Thank you for your blog. Let us only beware of those who claim to speak for Jesus Christ and yet promote their own ideas!

Thank you the surrendered one:

It would seem that God is using Donald Trump to bring America back to Him. Again, I just keep my eyes on Jesus. God used Nebuchadnezzar, but when Nebuchadnezzar fell into sin God disciplined him. As you have said God will be glorified in the end no matter who Donald Trump turns out to be. Thank for your response.

God bless,

Gregg
